Norfolk International Airport
Norfolk International Airport provides an information booth staffed by a military representative who is on duty from 8 a.m. to midnight seven days a week. Uniformed personnel have information about all of the bases in Hampton Roads, transportation and telephone numbers for duty offices, ombudsmen and emergency assistance. The information booth may be reached by calling 444-3040.

Checking In

Langley Air Force Base
If you arrive at Langley during normal duty hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, report directly to the gaining unit’s commander’s support staff. If arriving during non-duty hours, report to the 24-hour Base Lodging Office located at 44 Taylor Rd. (764-INNS). On the next duty day, report to gaining unit or to the Personnel Employment Office in the Military Personnel Flight, 45 Nealy Ave., Suite 218, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Fort Eustis
Soldiers should report to Military Personnel Office between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in Bldg. 662 – Rm. 100 for enlisted and Rm. 211 for officers. If reporting on weekends or holidays, report to the 8th Transportation Brigade in Bldg. 1012. For more information, call 878-3124.

Fort Monroe
The Personnel Administration Center (PAC) is located in Bldg. 82 (Hospital Building), 60 Ingalls Rd. in Rm. 350. Soldiers assigned and attached to Fort Monroe must in-process through the PAC. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and closed Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for training. Closed on federal holidays. Call In/Out Processing at 788-2442 with questions.
After duty hours, Soldiers must sign in with their gaining unit or the Military Police located in Bldg. 150, 87 Ingalls Rd.

Fort Story
Soldiers should report to the Military Personnel Office at Fort Eustis between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Bldg. 662 – Rm. 100B. If reporting on weekends or holidays, report to the 7th Sustainment Brigade in Bldg. 820. For more information, call 878-3124 during normal working hours or 878-0361 ext. 227 after hours for the brigade’s duty office.

Household Goods

Consolidated Personal Property Shipping Offices
The Consolidated Personal Property Shipping Offices (CPPSO) in Norfolk and at Langley Air Force Base has a full range of services available including storage of household goods, baggage and vehicles. Contact the CPPSO upon arrival even if the household goods delivery address is unknown.
For those who plan to live in one of the Southside communities, call the Norfolk office at 443-3700 and follow the prompts. For those who plan to live on the Peninsula, call the Langley office at 764-2044.
Before signing any delivery documents, note all known loss or damage sustained to the household goods shipment. If any property was damaged or lost, contact the CPPSO as soon as possible after delivery to find out how to file your claim.

SmartWebMove
The Navy Exchange Service Command offers a free residential connection service to military personnel in conjunction with the Naval Supply System Command’s SmartWebMove program. These services allow users to arrange their household goods moves and order utilities and other home-related services online with one-stop shopping convenience.

Eligible users must fill out a questionnaire to receive a report of entitlements available to them. The system also allows members to receive pre-move counseling, arrange their move, choose pack out and move dates and submit the forms to their Personal Property Office via the Internet. Customers can access SmartWebMove at www.smartwebmove.navsup.navy.mil.

The Langley Air Force Base Airman & Family Support Center and the Army Community Service Centers offer a multitude of services, including relocation assistance, employment and career resources, personal financial management, clinical counseling, stress management workshops, parenting workshops, Transition Assistance Programs, the Exceptional Family Member Program, and sponsor training.

Temporary Lodging Facilities

Langley Air Force Base Lodging
Langley’s Air Force award-winning facilities include 60 Temporary Lodging Facilities, 167 Visiting Airman’s Quarters and 78 Visiting Officers Quarters with 23 Distinguished Visitors quarters. 24-hour Base Lodging Office located at 44 Taylor Rd. Reservation requests must be accompanied by a copy of orders. Additional information can be obtained calling 764-4667 (INNS).

Army Lodging

• Fort Eustis offers lodging services in the General Smalls Inn, which is located at Bldg 1700 on Madison Avenue. Although the facilities are primarily for military students, PCS families and official visitors traveling on TDY orders, all military I.D. cardholders are welcome as space is available. The front desk is staffed and available to answer questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For reservations, call 878-5807 or email eustis.army.lodging@conus.army.mil
• Fort Monroe Lodging is located in Armistead Hall and the front desk is staffed for check in and check out Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. For reservations, call 788-2128 or e-mail monr.lodging@us.army.mil. Reservations are made in accordance with the priorities listed in AR 210-50 and are recorded and maintained on the GEAC System. Each guest is provided a reservation confirmation number. When accommodations are projected to be unavailable, official travelers are referred to Army Central Reservations for lodging at a contract hotel.

Housing information useful to outbound military and Department of Defense personnel assigned to new duty stations, stateside or overseas, is also available at the Regional Housing Welcome Center.

Fort Monroe

Government quarters are limited and include only 185 units. They are available to all eligible active duty personnel who are stationed at Fort Monroe and are accompanied by family members. Applications for government quarters are maintained by grade and bedroom requirements. Applications are taken in person at the Housing Office on the 1st floor of Bldg. 28 after the Soldier has cleared the previous duty station. Visit the Housing Office for off-post home finding and housing referral services as well. Receive referral assistance, general information on local housing availability (sales and rentals), real estate listings, brochures and pamphlets describing area rental complexes, other information regarding off-post housing is available with personalized service.

All incoming personnel who plan to live in the Hampton Roads area must process through the Community Home-finding, Relocation and Referral Service (CHRRS) before agreeing to buy, rent or lease housing.
Married permanent party soldiers and single senior NCOs may live off post and draw Basic Allowance for Quarters arranged with Defense Finance and Accounting Division. The Legal Assistance Office is available to review your lease or any rental or sales clauses you may not understand.

Vehicle decals

Decals are required for all vehicles and must be obtained from the pass office. Decals are valid for three years or until end of enlistment.
Applications include proper Department of Defense identification, registration, a valid driver’s license and evidence of insurance and state inspection. Vehicles must display the inspection sticker from state of registration.
Virginia law requires $25,000 (injury or death to one person), $50,000 (injury or death to two or more persons) and $20,000 (property damage). Lesser amounts of insurance are acceptable if they meet the minimum requirements for the state the vehicle is registered in.

Legal Assistance

Air Force Judge Advocate
The 1st Fighter Wing Judge Advocate provides legal advice and support to the 1st Fighter Wing Commander and more than 40 unit commanders and staff agencies. Services are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-ins for power of attorney and notary services are during normal business hours. Walk-ins for legal services (to speak to an attorney) are Monday and Wednesday from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Tuesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Thursday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The office is located at 33 Sweeney Blvd. in Bldg 331. Fort Eustis
The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides legal assistance is available Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. and is located at 2732 Madison Ave. Notary services are available to walk-ins during normal business hours. Appointments can be made at Fort Eustis by calling 878-3031 ext. 222.

Fort Monroe
The Office of the Post Judge Advocate provides a variety of legal services to the Fort Monroe community. The legal office is located on the second floor of Post Headquarters (Bldg. 77) and is open for services from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Powers of Attorney and other Notary services are provided to walk-ins during the regular hours of operation. To see a legal assistance attorney, you must have an appointment. Your appointment will usually be within seven working days. Call 727-3616 or 727-2158 for more information.

Fort Story
Legal assistance is available with a lawyer for civil matters (except for UCMJ proceedings) by appointment only at Fort Story every first and third Friday of each month. If the matter is more urgent, appointments can be made at Fort Eustis.

The Command Suite at Fort Story also provides notary services to active duty service members, their spouses and DoD civilians at no charge. To make a JAG appointment at Fort Story or obtain any other information pertaining to notary services, call 422-7101 ext. 221.

Military Newspapers
Many military installations publish their own newspapers weekly, biweekly or monthly to provide personnel with news, features, sports and classified advertisements.
